The series took a somewhat different approach to the Gundam Saga, as the Series took place on an Alternate Dimension of Earth and was no longer focused on a war between Earth and the Colonies. Mobile Suit Gundam Magi was one of the few Gundam series to be animated in widescreen and in high-definition and was set into the fictional Magi World Era.ĭirected by previous Gundam directors, Seiji Mizushima and Mitsuo Fukuda, the series is set in the fictional Magi World universe. After months of concept designs and preliminary outlines, Mobile Suit Gundam Magi would air on Mainichi Broadcasting System and Tokyo Broadcasting System on JanuJune 24, 2014. Surprisingly, the Databook garnered enough positive reception and praise that a follow up animated series was eventually green-lit by Bandai. It was later compiled into an official Databook and Artbook and was subsequently released.
The series were originally a notebook of robust concept designs and ideas that primarily dealt with the melding of mecha, science, and fantasy. Mobile Suit Gundam Magi was co-directed by two previous Gundam directors, Seiji Mizushima and Mitsuo Fukuda, directors of SEED and 00 respectively and was written by Kotha Hirano, a fairly famous writer employed by Bandai, who was better known for his hand in writing Galactic. The animation and writing style purposely imitated a previous Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam Galactic, which also bore inspiration from two earlier series, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
